Welcome to "Isms that Cause Schisms," a thought-provoking podcast from CGN exploring the societal and religious divisions caused by different "isms." In this six-part series, Pastor Jeff Gipe and Professor Brian Nixon delve into some of the great "isms" that are creating divides in our world today. We seeks to answer questions like "Why are people so divided today? Why so much anger and disdain?" The podcast will explore topics like materialism, capitalism, hedonism, and more.

Listeners can expect a lively discussion that will challenge their views and invite them to think deeply about the "isms" that shape our world. Tune in to "Isms that Cause Schisms" to gain a better understanding of the roots of the divisions in our society and church.

Celeste Mitchell opens by asking, “If you are anything like me, you’re asking yourself, ‘why are so many people divided today? Why so much anger and disdain?’ We hope to answer questions like these in our six-part podcast with Pastor Jeff Gipe and Professor Brian Nixon.”  

In this first episode we learn about our two co-hosts, learning about their life and what led to such engaging topics. Then we jump into the background of the book of Ecclesiastes which is used as a spring board to discuss eight “Isms” that are causing schisms, divisions in our society and church today. What are those eight isms, you ask? Scientism, intellectualism, hedonism, materialism, existentialism, capitalism, religionism, and humanism.
